QUOTE (Brahian @ Jun 8 2013, 03:39 PM)
Keep running.

You run out into the path, looking behind you at regular intervals. You can hear it gurgling and squishing on the hard-packed sandstone ground. The soldier's corpse shifts, startling you, and you notice it carried a shortsword on its back. Too late now. You keep running. You forget how many miles long the Black Forest is. 50 miles? 100? And what if you hit the mountains? It's gonna be hell-on-Earth.

No time.

Keep running.

Keep running.

Velvetino squeaks at your side.

You reach the foot of a solid sandstone cliff. Hello, Mount Feldberg!

The creature's growls are getting closer. Then... they stop suddenly.

...what do you do?

Continue running, grabbing Velvetino as I do so, and scream for someone to help me.

You pick up Velvetino and coddle it in your arms as you call for help. The screaming has completely stopped from the Orange One and only the sounds of crickets and toads meet your waiting ears.

What do you do?

You peek out of the cover of the sandstone rocks nearby. Nothing. Not a screech or a fleshy mass or anything. Just the woods, Velvetino and a bloodied you with a club.

What do you do?

You vowed never to return to FRANCE ever again. It's a terrifying country filled with baguettes and- *shudders*- abstract art.

Suddenly Velvetino starts squeaking in fear. But there is nothing nearby. Okay, so you can't go to FRANCE and you're not sure whether or not it's still out there. What do you do?

Um.... maybe we can go around FRANCE? See if we can do that.

Fair enough. If you remember correctly, the Black Forest is at the southwesternmost edge of Germany, and you can stop at Munich, go through Switzerland and back into the kingdoms of Italy in no time.

You calm down Velvetino, let your eyes adjust to the darkness a little, then you tighten the grip on your club and begin to head out-

Just as you free yourself from the rocky hiding spot, the body of the soldier flies inches away from your face and impacts the mountain with a resounding SPLAT into the cliff face. Then you hear the horrible cracking and the bubbling of organs as the man's body begins inverting, armor being replaced by liquid pulsating flesh. The soldier dropped his sword in the collision and you hear the faint rumbling near the top of the sandstone cliff. A few pebbles loosen and fall in a small clatter to the ground near the now pulsating body.

The other organ creature crawls out of the woods, wielding an ax in one wiry bonecaged hand. It rests faintly against a large, but dead spruce tree near the cliff face.

*NOTE: There are a few ways to solve these Combat Puzzles, but there is one that is hopefully only somewhat difficult that will reward you and will add up to a better ending. The simplest ones (i.e. bashing their hearts in with the club or something) is effective but will not affect you kindly.

Maybe they're just hungry? Try and feed them the turnip.

You throw the turnip at the one with the head. It kind of... absorbed the turnip? But all you seemed to do was make it angrier.

What do you do?

You somehow dodge the outreaching bone claws of the headless organ beast and take the sword.

You have a sword. Now what?
